Smart phones, tablets, the internet, social networks, etc., – we’re always
on the go and always reachable.
We don’t make time to relax and enjoy life anymore.
Why not? We should!
People hear more and more these days “I’m so stressed out!”
Everybody feels more and more pressure … you need to:
- have a well paying job,
- have a nice house,
- get your kids enrolled in sports/music/art … wherever their interests lie,
- go on vacation,
- have at least 2 cars … the list keeps growing!
Pressures affect everybody! They cause stress and anxiety that can make you sick. I mean that literally!
19 million people between the ages of 18 – 54 suffer from an anxiety disorder. And that’s just in the United States!
Research has shown that anxiety disorders are the number one mental health problem among American women and are second only to alcohol and drug abuse by men. Women suffer from anxiety and stress almost twice as much as men. Unfortunately, you can’t have one without the other since one of the major symptoms of stress IS anxiety.
I have suffered anxiety and stress for years. I have learned and studied many strategies for coping with it but I’m always searching for and learning new methods. Why have I made it a priority to learn about this? Both of my parents had their first heart attacks while still in their 40’s. They smoked, didn’t eat properly, had very high cholesterol (which I inherited) and didn’t deal with their stress issues (financially and family).
I quit smoking 27 years ago when I learned I had high cholesterol and started to learn about causes of heart problems. I didn’t want to have a heart attack in MY 40’s. I’ve learned so much … I’d love to share and teach you these methods so you can live happier and healthier lives.
Next Tuesday (March 6th), I’ll be going into more detail on the causes of stress. Can’t wait to share!
In the meantime, if you want to get an idea of how much this affects you, fill out the form below, and I will send you my ‘Stress Scale’ so you can see how high you score.
